new prince of tennis ficlet: "summer librarian", tezuryo, g

summer librarian (≈2100 words)

tezuka/ryoma; rated g.
for [info]pillarchallenge's AU challenge. this is the "library AU" in which tezuka is a research assistant and ryoma is a librarian. one line of dialogue stolen from someone in a chat a long time ago but i don't know who it was because the log is [info]bookshop's so everybody is named stuff like "ts eliot" and "ingrid bergman" and "vivienne li". ts eliot, whoever you are, i apologise. [info]soundczech. and thank you to [info]perhael for glancing over it for me.

Your Inui is fantastic, especially when his "Your copy machine repair strategy will bear more study," Hee. And I love your Tezuka and the way he uses the 2nd floor copier because he's infatuated with Ryoma. ♥♥♥ This is so cute and Tezuka's awkwardness is love.

Gah! I love this so much. What a great AU, that needs to much more exploring and introductions to the other team memebers as well (IMHO). LOL! Inui... you just know no matter what universe he is in, a notebook will be close at hand.

you aren't the only one. ._. this is actually only about half of the library AU that i had plotted out. i wrote a short version because i knew there was no way i could finish the whole thing in one night!

Ever since you first starting mentioning a librarian AU, I've been hoping and hoping and hoping, and here it is, and it was so, so worth. *_* I love this Ryoma, slightly different from canon but still him. And Tezuka, as quietly obsessed as ever. ♥

And INUI. :D :D :D

I was Ingrid Bergman in the chat log, actually. XD

yeah, i was thinking about that as i was writing it - ryoma, i mean. he had to talk a lot more here than he would have in canon, but in the end, i couldn't really think myself out of it. he's not in a position of subordination to other people here since he actually works at the library, and he's older and presumably a bit less bratty. and i guess maybe he really wanted to flirt with tezuka. XD

I totally didn't see this, because at the time I was probably either at my friend's house or watching Star Trek but now I realize, hey, this is the library!AU I kept hearing about.

Here are my as-you-go thoughts -

Kunimitsu knows that he has no right to think of it as his copier just because the library is practically deserted in the summertime and he almost never has any competition for it. Certainly resenting whoever broke it just for using it in the first place is unjustified. I completely love this bit here.

YAY of course Inui is the repairman. "Probability that adhesive substance is original to copy machine, zero percent," Inui-san says. Oh Inui, you gigantic dork. Ahahahaha and of course he's going on about chewing gum.

And of course Tezuka can effect much better repairs than Inui because Inui's so busy with notebooks and scale diagrams...

And Echizen says "Mada mada dane!" OF COURSE even when he's a librarian he'd be such a cocky kid. ♥ Tezuka is smitten. It makes me want to draw hearts everywhere.

I really, really liked this *nods head excitedly*. I love libraries, I love Tenipuri, I love Tezuryo,and I especially loved that last part of your fic.
